Marlene A. Altmann, 64, of Cumberland died
Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at her home after a short battle with
malignant melanoma.
She was born Dec. 18, 1944, in Marshfield to Leo
and Marie (Fuehrer) Bayerl. Marlene grew up near Milladore
and graduated from Auburndale High School in 1963. She
worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. in Wisconsin
Rapids. Marlene was married in Milladore June 10, 1967, to
Vernon Altmann. They lived at Bruce for eight years and moved to
Kiel for one year in 1975. In 1976, they moved to Neillsville
before coming to Cumberland in 1988. Marleen babysat a number
of children and worked at the Cumberland Post
Office.
She is survived by her husband, Vern of Cumberland; her children, Julie (Mark) Mazourek of Rice Lake, Tim (Joy) Altmann of Eden Prairie, MN, and Sarah (Raymond) Altmann Johnson of Green Bay; seven grandchildren; her mother, Marie Bayerl of Marshfield; one brother, LeRoy (Jane) Bayerl of Marshfield; and two sisters, Elaine (Bill) Barkley of Weatherford, TX, and Mary Murray (Greg Koerber) of Appleton.
Marlene was preceded in death by two infant
children, Michael and Katherine, and her father, Leo
Bayerl.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Cumberland, with Father David Lusson officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Cumberland.
Pallbearers are: Adam Mazourek, Audrey Altmann, Alyssa Frietag, Ahna Frietag, Wesley Wagner and Madeline Wagner. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Mazourek, Rachel Mazourek, Owen Johnson, Elsie Johnson and Aidan Altmann.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland, and one hour prior to service Thursday at the church.
